Welcome To Our Site
A place for dialogue to explore the connection between the Caribbean and British islands.
We aim to unite ourselves, our multiracial families and friends, and to assist in supporting our Caribbean ancestors both in Britain and the Caribbean.
Our aim is to foster our cultural ties, bolster the health and social culture of our youth, and bridge the divide between existing organisations within our boroughs.
I hold great honour and pride for the remarkable individuals of the Caribbean who undertook the voyage from their homelands to Britain. The magnitude of the risks they faced and the unwavering courage they displayed never fail to occupy my thoughts.
Stepping into the unknown, they possessed an indomitable spirit that fueled their journey. Their minds were filled with conviction and trust, even though some embarked without a concrete plan, driven by the beckoning opportunity to work.
Originating from many islands, each soul hailing from these shores has imprinted an indelible mark upon the fabric of Britain, myself included.
This digital platform now offers the avenue to share your personal narrative, whether connected to our forebears or companions from the Caribbean or Britain. Their hearts swelled with pride and joy, gratified by the prospect of this expedition.
In narrating our stories, we fortify the amplification of our culture on both sides of the journey. They stand as the unsung champions of all, their odyssey etched into the chronicles of time. It is imperative to safeguard their expedition in our memories, for our journey is a developing chapter in this epic saga.
The islands in the Caribbean are also sometimes referred to as the West Indies. Christopher Columbus thought he had reached the Indies (Asia) on his voyage to find another route there.
Instead, he had reached the Caribbean.
The Caribbean was named the West Indies to account for his mistake.
